Happy Summer Solstice! Not only should my clients be thinking about this extended summer day but contacting me to extend your summer season into fall with a getaway. After our experience at the new Hard Rock Riviera Maya earlier this month (read about it in my prior blog post!) there is no doubt that we are excited about going back to Mexico again this fall to warm up! When we were there in June we decided to take a catamaran to Isla Mujeres which was one of the highlights of our trip.
Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island off the coast of Cancun, only accessible by catamaran or an inexpensive ($7.50 each way!) 15 minute boat ride. A lot of my group clients have me set up excursions for them here for fishing trips, but it is so much more.

Known as the Island of Women, Isla Mujeres is only 5 miles long with a beautiful and charming downtown area. There are two facts I absolutely love about this island:
1) Ricky Martin has a home here. Who doesn’t want a home that 3 sides water front? I knew as we got closer to the island that it was going to be something extra special!
2) Brides and Grooms who want an exclusive, custom and unique destination wedding experience need to ask me about the all-inclusive Isla Mujeres Palace Resort. This is a luxury, adults-only boutique beach side property boasting 62 beautiful and luxurious rooms. What does that mean to you? THERE IS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE ENTIRE RESORT JUST FOR YOUR WEDDING! Absolutely ask me for details!! It is one of TripAdvisor’s Top 25 all-inclusive resorts in Mexico for a reason. There are a LOT of resorts in Mexico. That’s a huge honor!
An old fishing village, Isla Mujeres offers something for everyone including beautiful turquoise waters, white sand beaches, snorkeling, diving and shopping! My husband loves a good snorkel so he spent a lot of time off of the catamaran exploring the beautiful underwater national park via snorkel:
What we loved the most though was the lively downtown area when shopping through Hacienda Mundaca. I wish I had more than an hour to spend here! Our next trip to Mexico will absolutely include and entire day eating and shopping our way through this downtown. The shops were fun and had such beautiful items but the restaurants were the highlight, being inviting and endless! JJ’s mission in Mexico was to enjoy authentic, tacos at a small establishment. He wanted something authentic which was NOT hard to find in Isla Mujeres. It was actually hard to choose one!! We saw our catamaran crew coming out of this small restaurant on a side street and decided that was our place. Three tacos for 5 pesos scored us the best chicken tacos of our lives!
All in all, Isla Mujeres is a place I am thrilled to have experienced for myself and my clients. It is one of the lesser visited areas of Mexico and I hope more of my clients spend time there when visiting this summer/fall!
